In this modern world, there are so many ways that your heart can get tainted, and I find that it is a constant battle to try and keep my heart pure.
Have you Ever Prayed, “Create in me a Clean Heart?”
So what he said that is attacking heart at the moment? Is there a sin that keeps cropping up again and again? Are there desires that you know deep down don’t glorify God? You cannot control the temptations of things which come against your heart, but you can definitely control your response. Remember, temptation is only temptation is not sin until you give in to it, and then it becomes sin.
David was a man of God’s own heart, but he was also a man who grappled with some spectacular sins in his life. The cool thing about David is that he didn’t push it under the carpet and cover it up for long. It was open about you sin before God, and was willing to confess it, knowing that he still had the power to forgive his sin. David knew the desperate need to have sin forgiven, and if we are to be used of God in worship we need to know that same forgiveness as well.
So what do you need to do? Ask God to search your heart and pray, “create in me a clean heart“. Write any sins down which come to mind, and confess them, allowing God to forgive you and restore a close relationship with you. This is not a one-off project, so you may need to do this daily to see real breakthrough in your ministry and your personal devotions with him, but it’s worth it!
