Building a worship band is not a simple task, but we all want to build it God’s way, not in human effort, right?

Build Your Own Worship Band

Like the famous “build a bear” stores, where you can go and design your teddy bear exactly as you like it, with a worship band you have the opportunity to build what you like.  However, regardless of your talent or musical preference, you surely want to build a worship band the way that God wants, rather than according to your own preferences and desires.

And that’s what this podcast is all about… building the right worship band in the right way, and just as God gave very specific instructions about the construction of the temple, He also has some pretty awesome ideas about building a worship band that glorifies Him, not themselves… and not you!

And this, after all, is where many worship leaders go wrong!  They love music, their style of music, so inevitably they build a band that reflects the type of music they love to listen to. If you like we build the band in our image.  But I do not believe that this is what the Lord wants!  He wants a band built for worship that is in His image, just as He wants us to build ourselves in the Image of His Son!

So if you want to build your worship team into a solid, cohesive and anointed band, listen to this week’s podcast and learn just how you can build something incredible in your church!

And what’s even better is that we will teach you how to build your worship team the right way, maintaining harmony and developing a chemistry between the members that will really excite your church and pastor. So if you really want to build the best worship band, listen and absorb the collective wisdom fo Darin and Erick on this one…

277- Worship Team Dislikes

Worship team dislikes are a part of ministry, aren’t they?

Do you like the people in your worship team? You may or may not like them, but despite how you feel you need to lead them as they lead the people in church into worship.

Like any ministry team, your worship team consists of individuals, some of whom you will love and be drawn to, and other of whom you simply will not like.  It’s life, and you cannot always choose who will be in your team, or who will have the talent and skill you need for your worship ministry.

Worship team dislikes are a Fact of Leadership Life

So given that you are likely to get a variety of people in your worship team, how do you deal with the team members you don’t like?  Well here is the interesting thing… everyone else in your team are watching you!

So how you deal with the Worship team dislikes, the people in your team you don’t really like, is going to play a big part in unity, which is going to play a big part in how effective your worship leading ministry is. And after all, eternity is a long time to spend with people you don’t like, so you need to find a way to like them down here on earth, right?

This is the second part of our series, and it deals with leading your worship team effectively, even if you, let us say, don’t exactly warm to them! Listen to this valuable information now…

And don’t forget, our exclusive training can help you navigate some of the tricky situations you might find yourself in, dealing with people you don’t like.

Dealing with worship team disagreements can make or break you as a worship leader.

However brilliant you are at actually leading worship, you have to lead a team who are not always on the same page as you and do so with a spirit of unity and love. And if you are leading any group, including worship teams, you are going to have some sort of conflict at some point.  Conflict is inevitable, but it is how you deal with it, and indeed how you harness the conflict that really matters in the long run.

Worship Team Disagreements Can be Positive

The fact is that worship team disagreements can become a plus for you and your team.  Handling it properly can build real support and help your team to have confidence and even develop loyalty when they see you under pressure making wise and godly decisions.  The question is, how  can you deal with worship team disagreements in a godly and honourable way?

This podcast looks at how you should deal with worship team disagreements in your church, and it might just usher in a fresh unity and power in your worship leading…

Forgiving and releasing worship team members back into the team can be a touchy subject, especially when what they have done has caused a great deal of damage or offence.

But this must be our aim, when any of our worship team has fallen for whatever reason.  We are not there to punish, condemn and chastise, we are leading our teams to restore and forgive, but at times this is hard especially when the offence has affected other members of the team deeply.  So how do you balance the damage done with the desire of forgiving and releasing team members?

That’s what this week’s pod is discussing.  And as you will hear, there is not always a stable point of view in all this.  It is something you need to seek the Lord on and look to His leading and guidance when it comes to forgiving and releasing people back into ministry.

When can you accept a repentant worship team member back you are truly fulfilling your role as a leader, but how do you do this in a godly, kind yet firm way is the question.  Darin and Erick discuss this and much more today’s worship leader podcast…

236- Arranging Worship Songs

Arranging worship songs is challenge even for a season worship leader. In fact, arranging any songs is always going to be a challenge, and something that you can never stop learning about or becoming better at.

Today’s podcast is about arranging worship songs in a way that is not only attractive, interesting and challenging for the team but also acceptable across all age groups in generations and above all, anointed!

Arranging Worship Songs adds to Your Worship Leading

It is often easier for worship leaders to get off on their own little tangent, arranging songs in the way that they feel comfortable while ignoring the needs of the church and of the people who are listening. It’s no good arranging songs in a way that makes them unattractive to your congregations. This is not only foolish, it is counter-productive!

So is there an art or a knack to arranging worship songs, and is this different to arranging songs in other places?

We think it is! When you are arranging worship songs, you are not only trying to produce a good sound or attempting to make the song clever, but you are setting the stage for people to enter into deeper and more fulfilling worship. When it comes to worship songs, arranging them is often about open a spiritual dimension of the songs rather than the physical playing and singing of tunes.

Arranging praise and worship songs has an added dimension compared to other song arrangements, and that’s what this podcast is exploring. We will show you how you can achieve this even if you only have a few instruments in your worship team.  We can make arranging your worship team easy and effective, and make arranging worship songs more anointed, less troublesome and just a whole heap more fun!

So settle back, relax and enjoy today’s worship leader podcast, and learn how arranging your worship songs in the right way can power your worship leading!

Sex and the ministry is a potent mix at any time, and worship ministry is amongst the worst for sexual indiscretions.

You might be sitting there thinking, “I don’t have an issue with sex in the ministry,” and maybe you don’t right now, but I can tell you this is one of the most frequent tensions within a worship team, and you are not exempt from it!

In a praise and worship team, you have the love of music and worship in common. Many times your wife or husband doesn’t share that love, and this opens a sneaky little door through which the devil can invade your worship team and completely desptroy not only your ministry, but also your entire life!  That’s what makes this praise and worship leader podcast so powerful, and so important. Even if you are not sexually attracted to someone in your team, chances are somebody in your team is attracted to someone else.  We will share strategies on how you can put things in place to stop sex and the ministry becoming a force of destruction in your church!

This open, honest and revealing podcast is a must for every worship leader, married or single.  Avoid the biggest mistake of your life by listening to this…

And don’t forget, we have special teaching about this and all other aspects of worship leading in our exclusive worship leader academy.  Take a few months and learn all you can, and become the worship leader you long to be.  Check out our exclusive worship leader training webinar for free right now.

224- Acoustic Worship Leading

Acoustic worship is one of the most popular styles of worship leading, and the great things is that, even for a small church, acoustic worship leading, even with just a solo guitar, can work sensationally.

Many churches feel that, to be contemporary, they need to have a huge band and singers, drums, bass, keyboards, screaming lead guitars, the whole deal.

But there is increasingly a place for simple, acoustic based worship leading, with maybe a couple of guitars, a little beat box and perhaps a simple keyboard.  People love it. Worship teams love it and vocals can become a major feature.

In fact Acoustic music is popular even outside of the church!

At a recent concert I attended, a rock concert by a famous secular artist, some of the most memorable songs were done not with rock music and the whole band, but by the artist out the front playing a solo acoustic guitar!

And Acoustic Worship is Cool!

It’s light to the ear, loved by most worshipers and has many other incredible advantages over the full worship team, as this pod explores…

And hey, if you want to learn more about worship leading in general, check out our free webinar, available for you at any time of the day or night, and free to watch and learn from. It’s amazing and fun and… well, check it out for yourself and you’ll see just how cool it is.  And then apply the knowledge you gain to your worship leading this week!

We all know what a worship team looks like, but what does a healthy one look like?

Do you need to be doing exercises and eating healthy to have a healthy worship team?  Of course not, but a healthy worship team does have certain characteristics that you can foster to make your worship team all that it can possibly be!

In this exciting podcast, we examine what make’s truly healthy team, including the lives of the team members, the way they interact and the way you lead worship.

So if you want a healthy worship team, one that leads worship in unity and truth, and does so with an element of fun, then listen to this pod!

Disciplining your teamLeading a worship team can be a real challenge, and let’s face it, worship team members can be hard to deal with at times.  No matter how good you are, at some point you are going to have to apply discipline, and many times worship leaders do this wrong and cause havoc in their ministry.

You can destroy the unity you work so hard to achieve if you discipline too harshly, and you can lose control if you do it too softly!

Even more important, are you discipling rather than always disciplining your band and singers?  Instead of bringing correction, you have a unique opportunity as a worship leader to care for them, grow their relationship with God and produce incredible growth in not only their personal walk of faith, but also in their ministry gift of playing and singing.

This worship leader podcast is more about discipling than disciplining!
